How Do I Know When I Need New Tires?

Your tires should be replaced if you notice any of the following:

  • Tread depth is 2/32” or less
  • Cracks or dry rot on the sidewalls
  • Bulges or bubbles in the tire
  • Uneven tread wear
  • Excessive vibration while driving
  • Tires are more than six years old and showing signs of aging

Tip: Perform the penny test. Insert a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head upside down. If you can see the top of his head, it’s time for new tires.

How Do I Find My Tire Size?

Your tire size is printed on the sidewall and looks similar to:

225/65R17

You can also find the recommended tire size on the driver’s side door jamb or in your owner’s manual.

Should I Replace Two Tires or All Four?

Replacing all four tires provides the best traction, handling, and tire life.

If only two tires need replacing, install the new tires on the rear axle to improve stability, regardless of whether your vehicle is front- or rear-wheel drive.

What’s the Difference Between All-Season, Summer, and Winter Tires?

All-Season Tires

  • Best for year-round driving
  • Good balance of performance and longevity
  • Ideal for most drivers

Summer Tires

  • Excellent dry and wet road handling
  • Designed for warm temperatures
  • Not recommended below 45°F

Winter Tires

  • Superior traction in snow and ice
  • Stay flexible in freezing temperatures
  • Ideal for harsh winter climates

How Long Do Tires Last?

Most quality tires last between 40,000 and 80,000 miles, depending on:

  • Driving habits
  • Tire maintenance
  • Wheel alignment
  • Tire rotations
  • Road conditions

Proper maintenance can significantly extend tire life.

Should I Get a Wheel Alignment With New Tires?

Yes.

A wheel alignment helps:

  • Prevent uneven tire wear
  • Improve fuel economy
  • Extend tire life
  • Improve steering and handling

Skipping an alignment can shorten the life of your new tires.

Schedule an alignment at. one of our stores. Give us a call or email us.

How Often Should Tires Be Rotated?

Rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or during each oil change if recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

Regular tire rotations promote even wear and maximize tread life.

What Tire Pressure Should I Use?

Always follow the tire pressure listed on your driver’s door sticker.

Do not inflate your tires to the maximum pressure printed on the tire sidewall—that number represents the tire’s maximum capacity, not the recommended operating pressure.

Are Premium Tires Worth the Cost?

Premium tire brands often provide:

  • Longer tread life
  • Better wet-weather traction
  • Quieter rides
  • Improved fuel efficiency
  • Better manufacturer warranties

Budget tires can be a great value for many drivers, but the best tire depends on your driving habits and budget.

Do New Tires Include a Warranty?

Most new tires include manufacturer warranties covering:

  • Workmanship defects
  • Materials
  • Limited treadwear

Warranty coverage varies by brand and tire model.

We also offer a tire protection plan.
